Keys to developing children mental and physical

When parents/teachers organize activities of fine and gross-motor-skills it also helps their mental and physical development. Fine-motor-skills are the skills involving small muscles such as the eyes, fingers and hands.

Fine-motor-skills activities help develop children’s hand-eye coordination, holding objects and other important brain functions.

These activities also help children to eat or dress up by themselves. Children who don’t partake in such activities could face health problems, high stress levels and low self-esteem.

For young children learning writing, fine-motor-skills activities will strengthen their fingers and hand muscles. Stronger finger muscles allow children to grip the pencil longer while writing or drawing more precisely.

There is a multitude of fun fine-motor-skills activities to help strengthen a child's finger muscles.

To name a few: squeezing balls or a wet sponge, watering plants, dusting shelves or tables, wiping their toys, tweezing, picking up objects with tongs, pouring dry or wet, sorting, knitting, drawing, painting, stamping, playing with play dough or making paper art.

It is highly recommended that parents/teachers arrange to have children play as many of these activities as possible.

Gross-motor-skills are the skills related with big muscles, including hands, arms, chest, thighs and legs.

Children need to control their muscles for significant movements such as walking, running and crawling.

Therefore, they need to participate in physical activities like standing, walking, running, jumping, hopping, throwing, catching or kicking balls.

Children who practice gross-motor-skills activities daily have better physical health and brain functions than those who only sit and play on their phone or tablet.

Physical activities like running, playing with balls and jumping also allow them to release stress.

These activities enhance their learning, school performances and their self-confidence.
